Site update
I've updated the site a bit. Put 2004 year into the archives, updated the Hotlinks, etc.

Also, I've put additional safeguards into our guestbook page. Spammers these days are going to as many guestbooks as they can to post their URL. We had quite a few spam attempts in ours from over the winter. They do this to boost their google ranking; the more sites that have links to their site, the higher they are in the ranking; the higher the're ranked, obviously the closer to the top of the list they are. On our site's guestbook, links are now forbidden. Any attempt to embed a link will be rejected, and future attempts to post to the guestbook from that ip address will be denied.

10 years online, almost
Whilst doing these updates I realized that this site has now been online for nearly 10 years now! I wonder how many visitors that come here even knew what the internet was 10 years ago. Back then, I recall there were only two players on the team, myself included, that had email addresses. There were maybe five other softball teams with sites, and one of those teams were some of the people that invented the WWW. As time went on, we used to get 5-10 emails a week from players all over the world, just stopping in to say hi. I'll never forget one email I got from a guy who was incredulous that a class C team had the audacity to have a website. I remember responding that he needed to lighten up a bit, or he's going to be real shocked in the next few years. I also remember another guy who liked our site so much, he copied our entire format. I told him it looked like he "ganked" it from us, and he got all pissy saying it was just temporary until he could do a proper job of it, since we used "cheesy tables" to lay it out! Funny, hilarious actually, because tables are still the main building block of web pages to this day. His site disappeared within a year, BTW.

Now, there's so many team sites that we're pretty much lost in the crowd. But that's ok. It got to be a real chore responding to all the email.

On the 5th anniversary of this site I posted links to our original site, which I still have somewhere on a CD. You can see bits and pieces of that old site in the archives. I think I'll post the old site again this year.

Personal update
Also FYI, as I told Matt already, I am leaning heavily toward retiring from softball. It's my knee. I just don't want to pound on it anymore. I'm not 100% decided as yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm done.

We just got news on the spring season, I'll be making calls and posting more info as soon as it beomes available. All we know thus far is that we will be signing into the minor league again, and we will be playing thursday doubleheaders again. more info to follow. as far as the scoresheets go, when school gets a little less hectic i will start backlogging the old scoresheets and getting them entered.
